Call for Qualified Contractors

Position: Qualified Contractors
Contract Part-Time Highland Park & Eastside Detroit 40–90 projects

We’re expanding our Verified Contractors List for 40–90 upcoming residential rehabilitation projects — lead hazard control & abatement, energy-efficiency and weatherization upgrades, radon mitigation, mold remediation, and asbestos abatement. Verified contractors are eligible to bid on WWGT-managed projects funded by federal and state initiatives. Returning citizens and individuals with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.

About Healthy Homes (HUD)
The Healthy Homes Production Program (HHP) is part of HUD’s Healthy Homes Initiative, launched in 1999. It takes a comprehensive approach to housing-related hazards — addressing multiple childhood diseases and injuries in the home in a coordinated way rather than one hazard at a time — building on HUD’s successful Lead Hazard Control programs (NOFO FR-6800-N-44).
Scope of Work
Support our resident programs delivering energy-efficiency upgrades to residents in the 48214 area — from sealing entryways to installing appliances and insulation and repairing roofs. We value a diverse team whose lived experiences inform their relationship to social and environmental justice work. FETP — Regulatory & Policy Coordinator

Position: Regulatory & Policy Coordinator
Contract (Hybrid) $100/hr Southeast Michigan 200 hours Through 2025 (possible extension)

A project-based independent-contractor role with the Frontline Energy Transition Partnership (FETP), working alongside lawyers, witnesses, and experts on regulatory interventions and supporting FETP’s legislative coalition work. This role reports to the Soulardarity Executive Director.

About FETP
FETP is a partnership of frontline organizations — Soulardarity, We Want Green Too, and Urban Core Collective — with legal support from the Abrams Environmental Law Clinic, engaging in legal intervention to regulate investor-owned utility monopolies and advance energy justice. Intervention at the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) began in 2018 with testimony on inequities in DTE Energy’s Renewable Energy Plan. FETP provides education, resources, and strategic leadership to frontline communities seeking a just and equitable energy transition.
Scope of Work
Maintain engagement with MPSC staff, commissioners, intervenors, and working groups; represent FETP at Utility Consumer Participation Board (UCPB) meetings and advocate for funding-practice improvements; train and support new frontline communities and fellows as legal intervenors; participate in coalition spaces (MEMJ, MEJC, MAJIC, WTPMI); support expert witnesses in DTE and Consumers Energy cases; and provide updates during bi-weekly partner meetings.
Desired Qualifications
Ability to train FETP leadership and staff on grant preparation and reporting (to secure $500,000+ in UCPB funding across partners). Team-management and organizing experience, or a background in energy/environmental justice, is a plus. Familiarity with the Michigan Public Service Commission, or a willingness to learn about it, is helpful.
Equity & Inclusion
We value a diverse team whose lived experiences inform their relationship to social and environmental justice work. Women, trans and gender-nonconforming people, BIPOC, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and returning incarcerated citizens are strongly encouraged to apply. This list is non-exhaustive — if your lived experience informs your desire to do this work, we encourage you to apply.
Benefits & Contract Info
  • Independent contractor — no employee benefits
  • Compensation: $100/hour up to a total of $20,000
  • Estimated 200 hours (project-based)
  • Duration: anticipated through the end of 2025, with possible extension based on evaluation and funding
  • Location: Southeast Michigan (with travel to meetings as needed)
How to apply

Send your resume, cover letter, and 2–3 references to fetp@gmail.com with the subject line “FETP - Regulatory & Policy Coordinator.” Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
